Friends of Hull General Cemetery was formed to promote and celebrate the unique heritage, historical and environmental attributes of Hull General Cemetery. We strive to make this disused burial ground into a place that can be enjoyed by the local community.
Volunteers meet every Monday at 10am to litter pick and maintain graves and headstones as well as improving the wildlife habitat.
Our Facebook group is very active with over 1.5k members. Photographs, activities and research are regularly published on the site. We are in the process of publishing a free, searchable database of 54,000 burials with accompanying photographs of the remaining headstones after the council clearance in the 1970s.
We gained charity status in June 2023 - charity number 1203861.
