Friends Of Kensal Green Cemetery

The Friends of Kensal Green Cemetery were founded in 1986 by a group of conservationists and architectural historians concerned to recover and promote the Cemetery’s landscape and history. We registered as a Charity (No. 1106549) in 2004 and have steadily broadened the range of our activities including regular guided and themed walks.

We currently have over 200 members, of whom about half live in London, comprising people interested in academic research, those with family associations and those who want to maintain the pastoral tranquillity of over 72 acres in the inner city.

By courtesy of the landowners, the General Cemetery Company, we are able to use the Grade II* listed Dissenters' Chapel (restored 1996-7)  as a base for our guided walks and other events and for activities to survey and maintain the Cemetery's monuments and natural environment.

Kensal Green Cemetery is a listed (Grade I) historic park and garden currently on Historic England’s ‘heritage at risk’ register. It is home to over 150 listed (Grade II and II*) listed monuments, and we have further applications in the pipeline.
